Your tasks

Advanced Bionics LLC, a subsidiary of Swiss listed Sonova Holdings AG and a leading developer of cochlear implant systems, is seeking an experienced attorney with 5+ years of relevant medical device or life sciences industry experience including being an in-house legal partner to a diverse and widely spread sales and marketing organization. This position reports to the General Counsel, Medical / Advanced Bionics based nearby Zurich, Switzerland. 
This position will provide legal support to all of Advanced Bionics LLC operations in the US and Canada. Its focus will be the overall support of the development, commercialization and business interests of Advanced Bionic. This position will partner with the regional VP of Sales and VP of Regulatory and Clinical to aid in contracting, compliance, and reimbursement matters for Class 3 medical devices. 

Tasks & Responsibilities 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities: 

The Senior Legal Counsel position, located in Valencia, CA, has a diverse range of responsibilities. These shall include but shall not be limited to:

1. Proactively collaborating with the AB LLC functional and business partners on new as well as ongoing commercial strategies, thereby identifying and analyzing legal risks and proposing appropriate actions to secure compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and policies;
2. Reviewing product labelling materials for compliance with AB LLC’s respective policies and applicable laws;
3. Partnering with the Compliance Manager on establishing and maintaining best practices and policies for interactions with healthcare professionals and patients and ensuring AB LLC’s compliance with relevant laws;
4. Providing regular trainings and updates on legal and compliance topics to diverse groups within the company;
5. Assessing current company policies versus legal requirements, industry association codes and industry best practices and cross functionally coordinating changes and improvements where necessary, also eliminating redundant policies where reasonable;
6. Drafting, negotiating and reviewing agreements relevant to AB LLC’s operations, including but not limited to agreements with vendors, customers, health insurance plan providers as well as healthcare professionals and medical institutions;
7. Assist the responsible members of the legal team where necessary and required in employment law and litigation matters;
8. Collaborate with other members of the Sonova Legal Team based in Warrenville, IL and Staefa, Switzerland on an ongoing basis.

Your profile

Basic Qualifications and Work Experience
J.D. from an accredited law school;
A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably including in-house experience in the medical device or broader life sciences industry;
Good working knowledge of US federal and state laws applicable to the commercialization of medical devices or other regulated products such as pharmaceuticals;
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing;
Experience working for a North American-based, but international company and across a matrixed organization
