Concord Theatricals in search of a NY Bar Admitted Attorney to join our Business Affairs team.  As the Business Affairs Attorney, you will provide substantive business affairs and legal assistance to Concord Theatricals. This position is based in New York and will report to the VP of Legal and Business Affairs for Concord Theatricals.

The core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Draft and negotiate new acquisition agreements and renewal agreements for Concord Theatricals.
  • Draft and negotiate new songwriter administration deals and cast album agreements for Concord Theatricals.
  • Draft and negotiate complex production license agreements for Concord Theatricals.
  • Provide analysis and advice, including regarding contract interpretation and compliance questions, to Concord Theatricals departments including Licensing, Publications, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
  • Provide assistance with managing rights agreements across Concord Theatricals catalog, including review and analysis of rights agreements.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree and member in good standing of the New York State Bar required.
  • Minimum 1+ years prior legal experience.
  • Knowledge of theater industry practices and related agreements, terms and conditions and the ability to understand, interpret, negotiate and draft contractual agreements.  Work experience in the theater industry preferred.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of U.S. copyright law, customary music publishing and cast recording business practices.
  • Good business judgment and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working with lawyers and non-lawyers alike.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access), internet-savvy.
  • Detail-oriented; ability to work well under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
