Role Summary:

The Executive Counsel, Global Investigations will be part of a global Center of Excellence investigations team at GE Corporate. Counsel will lead certain governmental / regulatory investigations and complex internal investigations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing governmental / regulatory investigations and internal investigations that could raise legal or reputational risk for the company, especially with respect to GE business operations the Latin America region
  • Representing GE in front of enforcement agencies, in public policy discussions relating to enforcement priorities, and at external conferences
  • Providing cross-business support, as needed, in significant global investigations outside of the Latin America region
  • Driving measurable efficiencies in investigative matter management, including with regard to budgets for external counsel and forensic/discovery-related needs
  • Developing sustainable investigative capabilities and processes for GE’s investigative needs in the Latin America region, including through training and talent development
  • Providing cross-functional support to the compliance function to (i) identify emerging issues and trends, (ii) help define process improvements and (iii) help with training initiatives
  • Spearheading special projects

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • J.D. or equivalent law degree from a recognized international institution
  • Minimum 10 years of investigative experience in a common law and/or civil law jurisdiction
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex investigations carrying governmental enforcement risk
  • Investigative experience in one or more of the following areas:

    - Complex frauds
    - FCPA / other anti-corruption law
    - Export control/sanctioned country law
    - Public procurement law
    - Antitrust / competition law
    - Anti-money laundering law
    - Intellectual property theft / economic espionage / computer crimes
    - Healthcare fraud and abuse / regulatory enforcement 
    - Defense industry fraud / regulatory enforcement 
    - Financial services fraud / regulatory enforcement
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality, with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of a multi-national organization
  • High level of cultural sensitivity, flexibility and emotional intelligence in order to work effectively

    within GE’s multicultural environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English language fluency required)

Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior federal investigative work history in the public sector and white-collar defense work history in the private sector
  • Prior experience in the energy, aviation, healthcare, digital technology, and/or other industrial business sectors
  • Spanish and Portuguese language fluency strongly preferred
  • Prior US DOJ federal prosecutorial experience strongly preferred
