CACI is seeking an enthusiastic Law Clerk 1 – FOIA Litigation in the Washington, DC area.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Performs complex legal research.
Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memorandum of law, etc.
Reviews documents for relevance and privilege.
Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOJ MBI clearance.
Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
Hands-on familiarity with Relativity database.
Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
FOIA experience preferred.
Ability to perform the following tasks:
Drafting legal briefs and responses to letters and FOIA litigation requests.
Reviewing FOIA litigation requests and determining what data/documents are being requested.
Organizing responsive legal documents.
Maintaining complete and detailed case notes on all assigned cases.
Reviewing records to determine their Record Schedule status.
Processing notices and letters associated with specific FOIA litigation cases.
Developing responses to submitters of objections to release of information in records.
Redacting PII information in accordance with the requirements of the FOIA litigation.
