Job Description & Qualifications

This is an attorney position in the Compliance, Ethics, and Integrity Office.  The successful candidate will be working with a global team to manage internal investigations.


  • Oversees global internal investigations (fraud and misconduct, forensic accounting, third-party risk management, human resources, conflicts of interest, theft, bribery), including management of strategy, procedures, and reporting related to internal complaints and investigations
  • Provides guidance on investigative work plans and reviews investigative findings for special investigations
  • Assists in the administration of the Special Investigations Committee
  • Manages investigative resources and needs of special investigations investigators, including the use of external resources such as outside counsel or other third parties
  • Coordinates with Office of the General Counsel on legal aspects of investigations
  • Advises on the enforcement of the compliance program and remediation efforts based on investigative findings
  • Analyzes data to identify root causes and trends in investigations that may pose compliance risks
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders including Internal Control, Audit, Office of the General Counsel and others to prevent, detect and investigate violations of company policies or other alleged violations
  • Communicate with senior management, law enforcement and regulators

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:  

  • JD (Juris Doctor) degree
  • 10+ years as a licensed attorney in good standing in a state bar
  • Will ultimately have to be a member of Michigan bar
  • 10+ years' practice experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-house legal office experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership; ability to manage multiple teams effectively
  • Experience with managing internal investigations and related reporting preferred
  • Experience managing outside counsel preferred
  • Experience interacting with law enforcement authorities and/or regulators preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
